UPCOMING 2012 EVENTS
The Wise Woman's Way Workshop
with with Dr Anita Johnston and Elissa Shapiro

Saturday, January 21st, 2012
Join us for a day of storytelling, ritual, dialogue, poetry, music, & sacred soul movement blending modern psychology, spiritual wisdom, and contemporary women’s issues. Come together in women’s circle to learn, connect and be inspired for your new year.
Discover, uncover and apply your internal guidance system to all your relationships... with yourself, others, food, your body, you name it....
Begin 2012 with a deep connection to your most authentic, wise Self.
"When a woman is disconnected from her Inner Guidance System she becomes vulnerable to the nonsense of others. It is through a secure connection to the three pillars of her Feminine Nature -- her instincts, emotions, and intuitions -- that she is able to navigate authentically and safely through life, moving towards those individuals and situations that feed, nurture, and nourish her soul.”

Behavioral Genetics:
A Family Constellations Workshop
DATE TBA
with
Judy Smith
Behavioral Genetics exposes the unconscious bonds in families
and unravels their effects on the current generation.
The results are often immediate and life-changing.
It is well known that we inherit physical traits from our parents. What is less known is that we also inherit our family's emotional patterns. While our physical traits are easily discernable, our emotional legacy is more obscure. We are profoundly affected by our family history.
|
Traumatic events -- such as the premature death of a parent, sibling or child, an abandonment, crime or suicide -- can exert a powerful influence over us, and in fact can leave their imprint on our entire family system for generations. Bonded by an unconscious loyalty, family members often repeat the sufferings of the past. Physical illness, depression, anxiety, fear, panic attacks, financial failure, addiction, eating disorders and failed relationships can all be forms of this unconscious loyalty.
|
Once we identify these patterns, we can break free and begin to establish a stronger, happier, legacy and live in full strength and dignity.
|
Family Mapping is a group process that has the power to counteract generations of suffering and unhappiness. Based on the Family Constellation Work of Bert Hellinger. Family Mapping exposes the invisible bonds in family systems and unravels their effects on the current generation. Destructive patterns are brought to light and replaced with clear and visceral insights. The results are often immediate and life-changing.

Judy Smith studied through the Hellinger Pennsylvania Institute with Mark and Suzie Tucker. She facilitates workshops throughout Texas and South Africa and has been invited to Arizona and Ohio later this year. She coordinates advanced studies in this work nation wide. Judy is a South African trained crisis counselor and rape crisis counselor and former EST (SA) trainer. She is also a published author and recipient of a number of awards for poetry and literature. Soul Cycles: Four Faces of the Feminine Psyche
Saturday, April 12, 2008 ~ 12:30 to 6:30 pm
with
Anita Johnston, Ph.D & Elissa Shapiro, LCSW
A powerful workshop for women of all ages.
Experience the power of the feminine life cycle -- from menarche to menopause -- as it relates to eating, body image, and sexuality.
Discover the four feminine archetypes (maiden, mother, queen, crone) traditonally found in ancient storytelling traditions and learn how to use them for healing. Develop a deeper understanding of the power of the sacred feminine -- how to embody it and use it for transformation and creativity.
What are the Four Faces of the Feminine Psyche and what makes them sacred?
They are archetypes that correspond to four significant phases in a woman's life (maiden, mother, queen, crone) and also correspond to the four seasons of the year (spring, summer, fall, winter), four cycles of the moon (waxing, full, waning, dark), four directions (east, south, west, north), four times of day (dawn, noon, duck, mignight) and four elements (air, fire, water, earth).
These archetypal energies are available to the conscious woman for personal growth and healing, regardless of her chronological age.

BODY VIDA TRANSITION MESSAGE
Dear Body Vida Community,
May this exciting Body Vida update find you in wellness and vitality!
It has been almost 2 years since Body Vida opened its doors. As we have danced, moved and deepened our mind-body-spirit connection, there has been so much celebration and learning. I am so grateful and appreciative for the strength and wealth of the beautiful community that has grown around Body Vida. It is in this spirit of change and new beginnings, that I offer the following:
On June 1, 2006, Body Vida will be closing its doors and completing as a business entity. While we have not been able to meet our financial goals, this does not diminish the outpouring of love and support we have received from each of you. Additionally, there is an amazing opportunity to continue Nia in a beautiful new sacred space in Austin, called JoyMoves (scroll down for link).
• For Nia… The last Nia class at the current Body Vida/Kim Soo space will be Wednesday May 31 at 6:00pm. Liz, Ursula, and I will resume a new schedule of Nia classes at Shoshana Goldstein’s new JoyMoves studio, starting June 12, 2006. All of your Body Vida class cards and memberships will be honored by JoyMoves. If, however, you prefer a refund for any unused portion, I will support you with that. For any questions around refunds, please contact me no later than May 31.
• For Pilates… Todd will continue to offer the Tues/Thurs Pilates classes in the current Body Vida/Kim Soo space. All class cards will be honored.
• For Soul Motion… Soul Motion will be completing at the current Body Vida/Kim Soo space on Tuesday May 30 th. I will keep you posted as I determine the appropriate new time, day and space for this body of work. Please contact me with any questions regarding class cards.
This is a big change, and I realize that this may impact our existing community. I ask for your support and encourage you to welcome this new opportunity. It is an innovative step to support me in moving from business owner to teacher and studio consultant.
Both Liz and Ursula will continue to teach Nia at JoyMoves and beyond.
I invite you to come to as many classes as possible over the next several weeks as we complete in our current space with a spirit of celebration. I gratefully acknowledge and offer thanks to all the Body Vida teachers, administrative support team, demo team and the Kim Soo community. I thank you in advance for your patience and support.
In Love & Gratitude,
Elissa Shapiro, Body Vida owner
